altering a reserve price

I am selling on ebay which i have put a reserve price on it i have no bids yet.The item still has 2 days 20 hours left to run i have just received an email from ebay saying because you have no bids yet you could consider reducing the reserve price which i have just tried to do but it is not letting me it says you cannot alter reserve.Why is it not letting me when i still have nearly 3 days left to run ?

What error message are you getting & is it a car?
Try changing the start price & see if you get the same error

It might be more helpful to supply the item number

The reserve needs to be a minimum of £50.

Sorry i have another question which i hope somebody can help me with .It is a car which i am selling i have left the reserve price i have no bids yet.If i start to get bids but they are not up to my reserve price then i deceide i want to end the auction before it is due to end because i have an offer for the car can i end it.
