Frustrating issue with Call Credit and Debt Recovery firms

Hi,

I have a problem with debt recovery firms who keep putting default notices on my Call Credit report.

It appears that someone with a similar sounding name like mine has lived at an address where I lived and has defaulted on a number of credits (an awful lot really). I don't know that person and when I was still living at my old address I kept receiving post for him which I kept returning to sender, without opening them since they clearly were not addressed to me.

I never defaulted on any credit and always pay on time. When I applied for a personal loan last year and was rejected I checked my credit reports. Experian and Equifax where clean but when I checked Call Credit I found almost 4 default notices. I was quite surprised, not least because most of the firms I had never dealt with. When I checked the details of the defaults they all had the name of the other person and even the date of birth was different. I raised it with Call Credit and called the debt agencies to explain the situation. I was told that it was a wrong track and they removed the default notices.

However, when I checked my report now there is another default notice and (surprise, surprise) its from someone I have never heard of and its registered with the other person and again even has the wrong date of birth (almost 20 years older than me).

This whole thing is getting extremely annoying and even if I go through all the trouble of removing it again it appears that they just keep coming up again.

Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening in the future? I mean Call Credit knows that there were multiple incorrect defaults on my report before and can also see that the default is registered on a person with a different name and date of birth.

Also, I have just noticed that on my electoral roll information Call Credit added a middle name for me (I don't have a middle name!) and they told me the only way to change it is to send a letter from the council confirming my name and address, along with dates of residency. I don't have such a letter (I live in a shared house with all inclusive bills so don't even pay council tax). The only letter that I have is my poll registration for the last european elections. And besides, I don't see a good reason why I should provide some documentary evidence that I do not have a middle name. Experian and Equifax have got it right so it can certainly not be a wrong entry on the electoral roll...just have no idea why Call Credit adds a middle name (presumably the middle name of the other person).

Anyone have any ideas how to resolve this once and for all ?

Thanks in advance.
