Erroneous Transfer supplier rejected

My electric was taken over in error. The company who took it over have, as is required, sent it back to my supplier who have rejected it as I am moving out of the affected property. The reason given for doing so is that the transfer will not be complete before I move out. My question is this .....who do I give my final meter reading to? My original supplier has closed my account and I have no contract with the one who took over the supply. Thank you for any clarity.

This doesn't sound right at all.

You should give the closing meter reading to your supplier of choice (not the erronneous supplier)
If all else fails, send them a letter.

If I understand you correctly, you've been told the supplier of choice doesn't want you back (they don't actually have a choice in the matter) because you will have moved out before they sort this mess out?
So presumably they don't want the new custom of whoever moves into the property either???

... and many suppliers are throwing £30 a fuel to comparison sites to beg customers to come to them...

Furthermore, in the event of an erroneous transfer, the supply goes back to the original supplier leaving the customer in the position they would have been in should the erroneous tranfer not have occurred.

So who is going to receive payment for the consumption for the period since the erroneous transfer occurred until you move out???
You're not going to pay a supplier you've never entered into a contract with are you??? A supplier you never wanted???

... and likewise I can't see the supplier you have a contractual agreement with not wishing to get paid for the consumption you incurred.

    Thank you Footyguy.

Everything is as you have interpreted.

My supplier have said they will not bill me and the erroneous supplier have said they can't.
I want to move on with a clean slate but fear that this will hang over me.
Obviously the erroneous supplier has been providing the energy for the past four months so would assume they are not going to write this off, even though they were at fault in the first place.

Just get them to put that in writing, and then you should be able to get on with your life. :)

The erroneous supplier won't write anything off, as they are not your supplier and are therefore owed nothing. It would appear your nominated supplier may be willing to write off months of usage though ... but as I say, might be best to try and get it in writing.
  • Thank you wavelets

I have an email from my supplier which says that they have closed the electric account and that I wont receive anything from them or the erroneous supplier in this regard.

    Why don't I believe them!?
