Sainsbury's Master Card ???

Hello.
Could anyone having a Sainsbury's Master Card, paid off with a monthly D/D on your bank account, please advise :-

Did they fail to take a D/D in February and add the charge into your March D/D ?
Thank you. Pauline

February is a short month - could they have taken payment in first couple of days in March?

Do you mean they failed and charged you for their failure?

I am sure there would be a lot of noise here if this happened to many customers.
  • Hello.
It would appear that the wording of my OP is creating confusion. Please see following repost.

  • Can I ask when is your normal payment date?
Could it be 29th 30th or 31st of any given month - give or take a day?

    Hi,

I have a Sainsburys masercard and they took a payment on 13th Feb. I've never had them miss taking a DD out.

Thank you all for the replys.
Many thanks to Peter for the confirmation.

To Jones. My account is normally read for billing on or about the 9th of the month. The 9th of February was not a weekend.

The D/D for December was taken on the 27th, that for January on the 28th. This being the case, even though Febuary was a short month, the D/D could have been taken within February.
However it was not and the spend for February has been added to the March D/D.

I simply seek to establish if any other card holders experienced this situation.
    Thank you Pauline

    Please can you tell us:

    1. The date you Dec, Jan and Feb statements were issued.
    2. The date and amount each of those statements says the direct debit will be taken.
    3. The date and amount each direct debit has actually been taken.

If you have had a statement issued in February and the correct amount has been collected in early March I don't think there's a problem.

The DD is taken ~25 days after the statement is issued, on the day given in the statement and has nothing to do with calendar months.
However it was not and the spend for February has been added to the March D/D.
Spend is added to the statement balance in the first place, and it's the spend during a billing month, not a calendar month. Have you ever seen and checked your statements?

Your 'situation' remains as clear a as mud.
    Are you saying that
    • your statement at the start of Feb said that the DD would be collected at the end of Feb?
    • the payment wasn't collected, the previous statement balance rolled over to the new statement in March and has to be collected at the end of March?
Most likely there is no any 'situation' - your received the statement at the start of Feb, and the statement balance (or other amount as per your DD set up) was collected by a DD at the start of March as it was due to be collected.

So if they fail to collect it for whatever reason, it is not your fault. Call them and ask for refund !!. If they did not refund it, raise the complain and if still does not successful, escalate complain to FOS.
What 'refund'? The OP didn't say anything about having been charged anything extra.
  • I think I'll give up here and hand over to you Grumbler.

The OP is worried if she will be charged in March ... Presumably here whar she meant is fine
If you read the thread you'll see that I asked the OP specifically about the charg(es) and the 'clarification' was:

As the DD gets paid on ~27th, then surely the new bill have been already issued in March, and the OP can check it instead of being worried about charges.

That said, I agree, everything the OP says is encrypted and requires interpretation.
