remove hard drive from pc

we think our hard drive has died the death blue screen etc... hubby wants to try and replace hard drive but he cant get it out he removed a few screws but something is stopping it sliding out further i've tried searching for instructions /images etc.. but cant find anything can anyone give any info on how to remove it

its a compaq presario 6000 approx 4-5yrs old

There's screws on both sides of the drive holding it in. Sometimes they just need a good tug.

thanks for the info guys, and thanks for the link chippy i had a look elsewhere on your link thru compaq and found where there was a video to show you how its done:beer: :beer: , next step is to show hubby how its done :eek:

Blue screens are usually a logical problem, either corruption on the HD, or a driver problem, rather than a dead hard disk.

Try safe mode, and run chkdsk c: /F

or system restore
