    most reassuring...
The latest Annual Accounts submitted to Companies House for the year up to 31/12/2013 reported 'cash at bank' of £11,474, 'liabilities' worth £4,013, 'net worth' of £8,857 and 'assets' worth £12,870.
so a TV order represents a somewhat high percentage of their turnover.

Not necessarily illegit, but you can be sure I'll not be using them.

The model number of tv I have just bought ends in B, but I have seen one online reference to a V model.

Whereas supermarkets have their own cheapie versions, even from big names, with their own special model number, I have assumed the V/B to be a typing error as the two letters are together on a keyboard.

Turns out there is no difference in the TVs. I called up John Lewis and they matched the price. So I got the TV with a 5 year guarantee.

It'll also probably mean the warranty was bought out by the vendor, so LG won't service or warranty the line, you can only go back via Sainsbury's, through their repair services

That's quite common, Comet were buying Hotpoint washing machines without a guarantee, and Currys were doing the same with Panasonic TVs. Guarantees are money for old rope, there's a lot to be saved by buying without one.

That's what I did when buying last TV. Found John Lewis easy to price match. They then offered me a recent return with money off, still with the 5 year gaurantee. When delivered they had the correct box but wrong TV inside which they replaced with a brand new TV at the agreed price.

    Sorry, wandered off topic.

I can't for the life of me tell the difference between these two TVs and also, I can't find reference to the B model anywhere outside Sainsburys!

Can any of you help me tell the difference? (apart from the name)

LG 42UB820V <- Available from many places nationwide

    and

LG 42UB820B <- Only seen in Sainsburys instore

You'll find very often that the last letter in a model number stands for the color. I don't know in this case though.

Because of course people working in retail are qualified TV and radio engineers and not trying at all to just sell you something.

They know about as much as you do and probably did exactly the same research you did yourself.
