Air Conditioning Next Door

I've just been to view a property. There is an fairly large metal unit that says 'LG" on the side of the house next door, on the rear extension that is next to the garage of the house I viewed.
The EA thought it may be air conditioning. Does anyone have any experience of this, e.g. how noisy are the outside units of air conditioning? If I was in the garden during the summer would it be noticeable? The area itself is very quiet, so any loud noises would be emphasised by the quiet background.

air conditioning or air source heating unit, can be noisy or quiet , you need to hear it in action really, if the bearings have gone might make an annoying screeching sound for example0

Thanks for the replies. I've only ever seen air conditioning in offices, and it's not been noticeable with the general background noise.
I've never seen it in private homes before, and it is near the garden, so perhaps it's not a good idea pursuing this one.0 -
Check it when running. My neighbour has two air con units and we don't hear anything.0

bloke i knew at work
his dad worked at an aircon company
three bed semi, when he was renovating it, he got his dad to install a unit per bedroom - so 3 Fujitsu aircon units, each just under half the size of a washing machine all lined up on the side of the house
because his dad worked at an aircon company

All of the flats in our building have air conditioning, you can barely hear them when you're in the garden.0

If the unit is in good condition it's almost noiseless.0

Quite a few of our neighbours have air conditioning units, I've never heard them. So either they are quiet or are hardly used. Only time I've known them to be an issue is when someone has perched them on the side of a house and they overlap the airspace above someone's boundary line. I would say that they are ugly.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
