Help! passport issues....

hi guys new to this but i cant seem to be getting anywhere i travel in 5 weeks and starting to panic.....
I have sent my passport away to be renewed along with a name change, have included my deedpoll and my old passport, i received a phone call 3 weeks after they received the passport and advised me that i had not changed my details with the DVLA, I havnt had a valid driving licence from 2006 when it expired due to medical reasons, I was advised that this needed to be changed before they could issue me my passport, so after a call to the dvla i was told I would have to renew my licence fill in another medical and await the outcome .....
the short version is I have now found out that DVLA will not change the name on my licence until I am reissued with a new licence and will take 8 weeks, however I know that I will fail the medical and there for my name change will not take place. I have asked for the name to be changed however I don't need a new driving licence and the answer was no.
now what? I cant have a passport because I don't have a driving licence? I have made multiple calls to DVLA and to the passport office and waiting phone calls back.
I HAVE CHANGED MY DETAILS WITH EVERYONE ELSE IE HMRC BANK CREDIT CARDS ECT.
HELP! WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The involvement of DVLA is nonsense... Anyway, I would ask an MP to help.
I had an issue with the passport agency earlier this year... in desperation I emailed my MP and copied in the passport agency. Shortly afterwards the passport agency telephoned me (responding to the copied letter to the MP) and suggested a reasonable solution.0
