Is there anyone who is technically minded who could help me decide which of these is the best?

I don't mind paying the extra for the Samsung if it's worth it. I've read that the resolution of the Digimate monitor is fixed too. Anyone know if that's true? Also i'm aiming for as less eye-strain as possible because as i'm typing this my CRT is burning my eyeballs
Any advice would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

I didn't read much into the specs but noticed that the Response Time on the Samsung is rubbish (25ms). The Digimate is much better at 17ms.
There are also cheaper ones on Aria - http://www.aria.co.uk/specials.asp0 -

25ms isn't necessarily a "rubbish" response time. I currently have a screen with a 16ms response time, but work with a screen that has a 25ms response time and can't notice the difference. Also, let it be noted that a good response time doesn't always make a good monitor.
Do you have DVI on your computer? If so I'd consider going for a tft with DVI output. It gives a much more crips and accurate picture than a standard d-Sub connection.
If I were you, I'd try and spend £50 more (£200) and try and get a decent monitor, that has been tested and approved. Try looking at brands such as:
Viewsonic VP171 (£205)
Viewsonic VX715 (£170)
Iiyama ProLite E435 (£180)
or budget end Relisys TL795-RU (£160)
I'd stay away from cheaper unknown brands, purely on the fact that the monitor is one of the most used parts of the pc, and something your eyes may have to stare at for hours. A decent monitor can make quite a difference."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Well I was hoping to buy from Amazon.co.uk as I have gift vouchers for them but I can't find any of the other monitors you suggested on there
How do I check if i've got DVI? Also would it really be that dangerous to chose the Digimate monitor? On there website specification it says:
Regulation Safety&EMI:FCC, CE,VCCI, BSMI, UL/CUL
Not quite sure what that tells me towards its safety. Any ideas?
Many thanks.0 -
It's certainly true what was said about response time. However I wouldn't worry too much about DVI. Monitors are improving and these days the advantages of DVI are not so great and most monitors will be perfectly fine through the usual input.
Also you have to have a digital (DVI) output on your PC, although you can get adaptors I believe.
If the monitor has DVI it should say in the specs.0 -
If you go with Samsung, they'll give you a next day swap out guarantee for 3 years. Only them and iiyama do such great after sales service.
Edit - If i had to buy a monitor tomorrow, it would be a samsung or iiyama one. Mainly because of the above reason + good image quality.0 -
Although it's related to a Samsung printer (not TFT) I am presently having apalling cusatomer service from Samsung. I will do my best to avoid anything from them in the future. Of coure I could just be unlucky, but I have received multiple promises of calls back - always days late. And impolite phone manner.0
