Hob Hot Plates Cleaning

Any tips on cleaning hot plates. (Not Ceramic)

I have tried brillo pads, scrape with a knife, just not moving, hard pretty thick. Must be some way to remove this.

Hi atticgirl,

Is this burnt on deposits? If it is I'm afraid the only way is with elbow grease and patience but that Fairy Power Spray stuff is good.


To get the hotplates back to looking black, assuming it's solid hotplates, then this is the stuff you need to get it looking half decent. Chrome trims never come right IME.

Thanks Kwatt, yes it is burnt on deposits, one ring in particular is very bad.
I was thinking of trying Mr Muscle oven cleaner?
And yes it is solid hotplates, chrome trims are looking good with the brillo pads. Must get this stuff off the plates before I blacken them.

Not sure I have got much grease left in my elbow.
