It's not far to Hendon - to see the Battle of Britain Museum - free entry I believe.

You could try the Childhood museum at Bethnal Green.

I really enjoyed the childhood museum too.

The Olympic Park is also just nice for a wander round too.

Ripley's Beleive it or Not is quite good too and can get 2for1 with the train ticket offers.

Excellent small museum, really quirky specimens that would appeal to children and adults. Well worth a look and free admission.

Edited to add that I just noticed it's closed over Easter! Still might be worth keeping in mind for a future visit?

I really enjoyed the Childhood museum at Bethnal Green too, as did hubby. My 8 and 10 yr old kids were less keen though...

My 2 love going up the Monument - me less so! They love the view at the top.

We also love going round Camden market and looking at the quirky stuff and grabbing a bowl from different food stalls to try each others food. We also took a canal trip from Camden Lock to Little Venice, via London Zoo, which was about £10pp for a 3 hour round trip.

Visit the Sky Garden at the top of the Walkie Talkie?
  • If you can bare to go a little bit out of central (which is a blessing on weekends sometimes!) I'd hop on a train from waterloo to hampton court. Its within the London zones so won't cost extra on your travelcard, and you can go around Hampton Court Palaces gardens for free which are beautiful at this time of year! If you want to go in I believe its part of the 2 4 1 days out scheme posted above, and its deffo worth a trip! Really interesting and feels like you're walking through history! Plus great views of the thames :)
