Is there a way to stop pre-approved credit offers coming through the post?

Any mail I get like this is torn into small pieces and returned in the reply paid envelope sent with it.

Does it work? I don't know but the amount I get seems to get less and less over the years. And it makes me feel a little bit better.:D

Peter333 this concerns me too. Like you I would always set up a re-direct for mail when moving, but what if they keep sending them after the re-direct expires? I am going to look into the Mail Preference Service I think.

I phoned Vanquis and asked them to stop sending me application letters at 2 or 3 month intervals, as I had no need of a new account with anyone.

When the next one came I complained. I was told there was no record of my previous request, but this would be referred to their complaints team.

Two months later I got a letter that said they were looking into my complaint, and would let me know when they had more information.

No more letters ...

I sent vanquis a letter saying I will NEVER take a credit card out with them so please stop sending me junk mail.

They still send it.

Well I paid off my credit card the grand total of 3 days ago. Already I've got email offers and a post offer telling me I'm pre approved for other cards :eek:
i don't know if the timing is coincidental but I've had nothing for months before. I have ripped them into tiny pieces and sent them back. Gives me a small bit of satisfaction!
