Does anyone know of any kids play areas / parks within easy walking distance of leeds city centre ?
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Are you sure you want to go to Leeds?!
It's really not very nice, the city centre is being rebuilt with rabbit warren flats, the people are really aggressive, you'll wait ages to be served with any kind of food, (and when it arrives it'll be either cold or not what you ordered), they can't understand Geordies (it amused me, I have no trouble making myself understood down here usually but in Leeds they didn't understand a word I said) and it seems to be trying to turn itself into a glossy Londonified shopping mall with curiously overinflated prices!! (Of course maybe I was just unlucky that weekend.) (Hastily looks over shoulder in case any burly Yorkshiremen/women come hurtling down the M5 to make me reconsider my opinions...!)
On a more serious note, have you looked at the council's website or rung the library to ask if they know of any where?
Hope your experience of Leeds is more positive than mine!Exiled-Geordie-in-the-west-country (not quite in the middle of nowhere, but I can definitely see it from here!)0 -

Nothing like stereotyping is there!!
As a 5'7" size 12 Leeds lass who doesn't 'do' aggression and has no difficulties understanding the geordie accent I could take umbrage at this! Leeds is like any other major city with it's share of good and bad restaurants, cheap and expensive shopping and friendly/not so friendly residents. If you're visiting it makes sense to use the board for recommendations beforehand and not dis the place on the basis of one visit!
In answer to the OP however I can't think of any parks or play areas that are walkable from the city centre although there are a number that are easily accessible by bus. Have a look on here

You know, I've moved round the country and lived abroad a lot due to work (north east; Hampshire; East Midlands; Devon; Europe; Far East); and unfortunately Leeds was one of the most unfriendly and inhospitable places than anywhere else I've ever visited/stayed on first impressions.
I actually visited in the hope that it might be somewhere I'd want to think about living, since it's a heck of a lot closer to my home town than Devon; but I had such a bad time and encountered such aggression (and this was during the day, not at night in the drinking districts or anything, as I'd expect where I'm from) that I wouldn't ever willingly go back there. Like I say, maybe I was just unlucky for the 72 hours I spent there. I've lived in 3 big cities (Newcastle; Nottingham; Southampton) and now live in a small city, and I'm well aware that every city has good and bad. It's just sad that when I visited Leeds I didn't encounter any of the good!
P.S. When it's the genitive in a sentence, ie "its location" it should be "its", not "it's". Sorry to be pedantic, but this seems to be so widespread in English that it's really starting to get to me these days!! Put it down to the teacher training.Exiled-Geordie-in-the-west-country (not quite in the middle of nowhere, but I can definitely see it from here!)0 -
Well I have lived in Leeds for 10 years now having moved from scotland- and have to say I love it here
Ye you do get some aggressive types but no more than you would in any town or city0 -

I work in Leeds, and I cant understand Geordie as it isnt english as I know it, but I aint aggressive, where did you encounter all this agression and bad service? yes there are certain pubs and clubs, you wouldnt go in due to their reputation, and for as many bad restaurants there are plenty of good ones.
Back to OP, there isnt any parks close to town centre as such, but a 10 min bus ride will get you to Kirkstall Abbey, which has plenty of open spaces for breadsnappers to run around safely.0 -

The last paragraph says it all. Please stay in your small city.On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0
