Family Income protection - providers for over 70s?

Options
Can anyone recommend a good provider for family income protection for someone aged 72?

I am in my mid 50s and my new partner is 72. Although he works part time because he loves it, we do rely on his earnings as well as my income and his pension. I hope we have many many years together, but I have to face the possibility that I will be left on my own. Compared to most couples, we have a short history, most of it bound up with the home we are creating together, so I want to be able to stay in it.

If anything happens to him, I will not be able to claim anything from his pension, as it was already in payment when we met and the terms provide that on his death a reduced payment is paid to a named beneficiary (his former wife).

I have adequate pension provision for myself. In 5 years' time, when I can draw on this if necessary, I should be OK. So I am looking for cover that will replace his income should he die in the next 5 years.

He is in excellent general health but nevertheless the quotes we have had for life assurance and/or family income cover have been eyewateringly expensive, I guess because of his age. Does anyone know of any specialist firms or brokers that might find a better deal?
