Any suggests what the problem might be...new build flat, plasterboard flooring(is that the correct name for it?) when someone walks across the floor from the flat above I can hear a loud cracking sound, it seems to come from a few directions, not just from under the foot area, you cannot hear the sound from the above flat, just from my flat.
Is it an easy fix and would it be fixed from above or below?

Perfectly normal in any new build I wood say

Not quite sure what you mean about plasterboard flooring ??? plasterboard goes on walls, chipboard flooring maybe, if that's the case they nearly always creak and crack etc. It boils down to how they have been fixed down, ideally they should have glued joints and are screwed or nailed down some put felt under them on the joists as well to minimize noise. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -

new build but still a few years old, the noise is not normal, as said the sound comes from the ceiling not the floor from above,it's way too loud to be "normal"...well maybe if you mean normal in the sense new builds these days are poorly built, either way it still needs solving.0 -
If it's a new build get the builder back out to tell you what it is - should still be covered for things like that.0
