PCN on double yellow lines

Hi everyone,
I recently had a PCN/parking ticket for parking on double yellow lines at 8pm on a friday night in my local village and was just wondering what the ins and outs were with regard to the ticket validity.
I know, being on double yellows, I'm technically parked where I shouldn't be, however, i was only there a few minutes, I wasn't blocking anyone or causing an obstruction in anyway and not only that it is extremely difficult finding a parking space during the day and at night. I work hard for my money and am currently going through a period of extra financial expense and commitment so could do without having to line the councils pockets with even more money than necessary, if I can avoid it!
The only reason I can see for the ticket to be invalid, is a break in one of the lines where a small chunk of tarmac is missing out of the road. Am I correct in my thinking? Maybe someone can tell me if this constitutes a valid loophole or not?
Thanks in advance

is this a council issued ticket asking for money to be paid to the council/local authority?

You're not thinking of going back with a pickaxe are you? :D
Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day.
But give a man a fishing rod, and he'll sell it and buy alcohol.
  • Yes it is a council/local authority ticket. And yes it is an EXISITING flaw in the tarmac :)

I think they clamped down on that loophole of having a tiny gap, I was watching one of the parking wars shows and a woman parked on them for years and kept winning when appealed.

But when she appealed on the show they said that loophole no longer applies if its obvious that the lines should be there.
