My experience has been that you can make online transfers from a savings account to either

    a) another account in your name with the same institution
    or
    b) an account in your name, with another institution, which you have previously linked to that savings account

Do you know of any savings accounts which allow online payments to other people? (Sounds suspiciously like a current account to me :p)

Courrent account comes with a card, allows DDs and SOs.
That said, I used to have A&L savings account with a cash card.

    I stand corrected :o - thanks.

I have a brace of Tesco savings accounts but never tried to set up payments to accounts not in my own name. A choice of 20+ current accounts seems enough :p
