2nd car help
Good evening everyone,
I'm looking for some advice, my OH is taking her driving lessons soon and if and when she passes she is going to be using the car I drive and then buy another car for myself for work, we are looking at spending £2k on a car, is there any place I can read reviews on second hand cars just want to find as much information as I can before I jump in and buy one.
Thanks

1. compile a list of vehicles your interested in and within budget.
2.Google search for a Forum designed around that Brand I.E if you see a Rover 75 diesel, then the MG rover forums is a good place to scour for information and buying tips for that brand of vehicle simuarly Ford forums and Vauxhall forums and so per you list of vehicles on model you looking for.
3.If your interested in self maintenance such as servicing and changing brakes yourself, the get onto the euro car parts website, and write out parts service list per model of vehicle and engine size so you know how much on average you have to save to maintain the model yearly.
4.The seller, private or trade, going with the knowledge of step 1 above can save you money and ability to potentially prevent yourself from buying a lemon of a car because you know their quirks. If buying from a trader, then the best you can do is ask for recommendations from family and friends, long established traders can be just as bad here today gone tomorrow ones so research who your potentially buying from.
If you don't like the seller or sales rep, even for no reason then I tend to walk away and not buy nothing its my conscious and judgement that is telling me something isn't right.
If it sounds too good to be true, then it is.0 -
Dont forget your new car/insurance policy will be starting again with zero no claims.
The parkers website lists virtually every car and gives you the basic's to look out for when buying.
When you narrow it down then join a forum dedicated to that manufacture or even the actual model.
I get my insurance cheap because of one, but they wont insure new drivers.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Ask around neighbours or friend if they are selling a car in this bracket and have a chat. At least you'll know where it's been for the last few years?0
