    by way of example

    70,0000 at
    1% is about £ 58 per month (70,000 x 1% /12)
    1.5% is 87.5 per month (70,000 x 1.5% /12)

so depends upon what saving account you have

Maybe start with Santander 123 and get 2.4% after BRT on 20K

    4.5k @ 5% in Nationwide, TSB
    5k @ 4% in Lloyds
    41k @ 3% in Santander, BOS, Tesco
19.5k @ 1.35% in any of many (eg Tesco)

My calc's show 2.2%pa net return after BR tax, or £767, minus £14 (6 months plus 1) fee in Santander = £753

Plus you can feed £400 per month into the 4% Club Lloyds monthly saver.
