    I've just purchased the Land Registry information.

    I now know who the owners are, but their address is the property I was living in!!

    How do I issue them a letter if there address is where I was living, as I know they don't live there.

    If the tenancy agreement is between you and the rental agency then they are your landlords. This sometimes happens when the landlord uses a 'guaranteed rent'. The rental agency rent the property from the landlord and sub-let it to you. Often used by one rental agency who's name sounds quite forrest like.

    If this is the case then all your action should be against the agency directly, ignore who actually owns the house.

    Perhaps you could post a photo of the beginning of your tenancy agreement with your name and address blanked out?

    Am I right in thinking, the fact that the landlords address on LandRegistry is the actual property I was in.

    Makes me think this was illegally let. and not a buy to let.

    Does this work in my favour or harder for me?

    May be missing something here but you did a land registry search on the address you're living in? Then of course thats the address that will be on the land registry search and the names of the landlord will of course be there as owners as they own the property!

    It doesn't have any effect. Most people don't bother changing their address on a property when they move out if they intend to let it. I don't think the mortgage company care about the LR address either.

    They may not have told the mortgage company it's being rented out, but that doesn't help you as it's not really illegal, just a violation of their contract with the bank, which you are not a party to.

    What does your tenancy agreement say? Who is named on the contract? The owner/landlord or the letting agency? It's possible it has the landlord's name and the letting agencies address.

    This is a red herring. The owners might have lived in the property previously but have since moved and could have been granted consent to let from the mortgage lender. Then again maybe they own the property outright with no mortgage at all.

    Legal action should be taken against the person or company named as "The Landlord" on the tenancy agreement.

    this may or may not be the property owner.

    The action should be sent to the address provided on the tenancy agreement "for the serving of notices", which may or may not be the landlord's address.
