So I have Halifax as my main account and was woundering, rather than loose the £5 a month could I do this -

I have a LLOYDS account with 2 dd's set up and 5k in it, I cycle 1500 from my Halifax each month and was thinking..
if I switch this Lloyds to a first direct account would I have to also pay in my wage? or would transferring in the £1000 from my Halifax then into the FD account then back into my Halifax be ok , I want to switch for the free £100 switch bonus :)

Just open "donor" accounts with your current banks and switch those for the "free" money

    No.

MSE article: Free £100 + top service: First Direct

ETA: in fact MSE are wrong when saying "You must pay in a salary..."

within the last 2 moths ive done the following

    opened a Barclays cc
    opened a tsb account
    opened a Lloyds account

got refused for a santander and a nationwide account

given this has all hit my credit report would it be better to wait a while to open the donar account and try the switch? I could probably open another Lloyds account now and set up 2 new DD'S from both my credit cards but I am not sure if ill then have to wait before trying to switch else were as ill probably fail the credit check with opening so many accounts at once
