Acer Aspire One D255 (Windows 7) won't turn on - no lights

It's 3 years old and only used occasionally. When last used there were quite a few Windows Updates I left it downloading them and tbh forgot all it for several hours. When I went back it had powered off. At first I thought it was because Windows updates had restarted the computer to install the updates but there was no power light or battery light showing even though it was still switched on at the mains.
I tried all the suggestions on google(hold down power button etc) to restart it but still no lights at all so I've bought what is sold as an Acer Aspire One D255 compatable mains charger off ebay (from a reputable seller)but the lights still don't come on. My first assumption was that the problem is something other than the mains lead however I notice that the new 'compatable' adaptor has an output of only 1.58amps whereas the original charger has an oputput of 2.15amps - this corresponds with the label on laptop.
I'm wondering if the new charger powerful enough? If it is do you guys have any suggestions what the problem could be. Is it worth repairing or should I remove the hard drive and use it as spare?
Thanks for reading

Take the battery off and try it again with both the new and old mains adapters.0

mains jack or input circuit gone.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
As gunjack said above the most likely is the input jack:

This is a replacement instruction for a D250
