New Build FTB - Timeline Concerns!

Looking for some advice and appreciate any feedback (Sorry for the jackanory style background):
Myself and my partner have exchanged (as of 02Mar15) on a new build property. We reserved the plot back in January based on the floor plans as the developer does not have a show home in the style we wanted to purchase. Completion was always stated as "Spring 2015" up until exchange.
I was advised that at Exchange, there is a requirement for the developers Solicitor to specify a forecast date for completion - this was done and a date of 30Apr15 for completion was advised.
The developer has stated there will be a "predecoration" walkdown of the property that we will be invited to. This will be our first chance to actually SEE the interior of the house we are buying. We have repeatedly asked for a forecast date for this to take place, but all we are told is "soon". This has been ongoing since before we formally exchanged (tiling / flooring was chosen by us mid Feb).
My understanding is I will receive the "notice to complete", 12 working days prior to completion, which will include the certificate from NHBC confirming the house is suitable / safe for habitation.
Taking 12 working days back from the 30Apr15 I reach the 14Apr15. With Easter holidays inbetween now and the 14Apr15, they essentially have three weeks (perhaps two if Easter is considered a 'lost' week). Im also assuming an NHBC inspector will need to be organised and an inspection date scheduled with them, so perhaps even less time.
The exterior of the house has had roof on and windows in for at least two months, all scaffolding has been removed for some time also.
We have asked for photos of the interior (floor plan is great but would like to see the rooms to gain perspective) as we'd like to start ordering some long lead furniture, but been told this is not possible.
I was wondering if someone could share their own experience of how far in advance of completion you would normally expect a pre-decoration visit to take place? Would it be unreasonable to suggest that decoration should have commenced considering we are 6 weeks from completion and 3.5 weeks from receiving the "notice to complete"?
I am trying to work out in my own mind if the developer is delayed and simply witholding information from us. This obviously has implications for myself and my other half which I would like to try and mitigate as far as possible.
Thanks!

It's going to be max of 5 working days to do the basic new build paint so I think you are possibly being unreasonable really. I'm surprised they're letting it go over into April, as they can't use it to boost this quarter's results though
Easter isn't a shut down for builders like Christmas is0 -
