Hi All
I am not sure if someone has already asked this previously but i am currently with HSBC and want to switch my current account to Halifax. I have been with HSBC since I was 16 when it was called midlands (showing my age now :rotfl:
Will switching to Halifax affect my credit rating or report in any way as I am looking to buy a house in next year or so. Your response will be appreciated.
Have a great day peeps. xx

Switching will not adversely affect your credit records, but a reasonable length of time with your bank will be viewed favourably by most mortgage lenders.
If you're not planning to buy in the very near future, there should be no problem. However, why not open another account (with HSBC?) and switch that one?
Why are you switching? For the switch incentive or the £5 per month? Both? Some other reason?0 -
Thnaks for your reply badger09. The only reason I am switching is because they are offering £125 switching incentive and £5 per month.
I have been with HSBC for a long time without any offers. I am not planning to buy until next year but when the lenders do run the searches surely they can see all the banks I have been with and the accounts have.
I currently have a joint account with HSBC, a basic savings account and an ISA as well as my current account. Can I open another current account with HSBC and Switch that?
Thanks0 -

I don't see why not. Many posters have done just that, with a variety of banks.
Try HSBC first. If they won't let you open another account, have a read around the forum. Use the search term 'donor account' where posters have reported some banks as being easier than others
