Tiling quote ???

Have had this tiling quote in from an established company locally.

They have been around for years, and will guarantee tiles etc against cracking, which I am guessing most self employed tilers will not be keen to do.

Tiling is in new square 5m x 5m extension, over wet UFH..... 800mm x 800mm tiles to be laid.

Quote as follows (with VAT comes to about £3200)

24.96M2 Centro Citta Ash Natural Rectified 800x800 £1078.04

Supply & Fit De-Coupling Membrane Prior to Tiling £425.00
Optional But Strongly Recommended

Adhesives & Latex For De-Coupling Membrane £84.00

Labour to Fit Tiles £846.00

Adhesives & Medio Grey Grout £194.00

ALL PRICES plus VAT

Part of the issue is that I need a De coupling membrane under the tiles as we are having wet underfloor heating.

I accept the cost of the tiles as we chose them!

Just wondering really if £1000 (inc VAT) to fit 22sqm of tiles is over the top. They reckon it will be 2.5 days labour .

Are large tiles (800mm x 800mm) harder to lay than smaller tiles?

    Cheers

I have been told they are trickier to fit. The tiles we are after have no gap really as well. These ones http://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/catrangetiles/floor-tiles/purity-wood-effect-tiles/purity-tiles-elm-tile/20522/

I have no idea on tilling its all new to me. I know we need screed as even through its concrete under the crappy lino we have its not totally level. We are talking up lino ourselves to save money and will have room totally clear to save money.

I'd say its a reasonable price. Super large format in rectified porcelain will be a pig to lay and get lip free.
