You would have had to wait about 5 years with your purchase.

It is normal in life that some offers come along at what seems the wrong time. I would have loved to have a 2% mortgage but instead mortgages were 14% when I bought.

Thats really interesting, thank you. OH is aiming to buy a home Aug 2016 so he'd only get a year out of it but that's still £850 help. I wonder what the interest rates offered by the banks will be, hope he isn't jumping in before the better offers if he opens one of the first on offer.
