Paris weekend

Hiya
I've posted this on another board but then realised it was probably better on here.

My friend is 40 this September and we've been saving £10 a month for the last three years as she'd like us to go to Paris for a girly weekend. We're going to see the sights rather than clubbing and drinking (i'll take wine in my suitcase!!). So, I was wondering if anyone has any advice for our trip. We're hoping to get a flight and hotel for about £250 each and then planning what we want to see and walking and using public transport when we're there. It's obviously all got to be debt free friendly!
Thankyou xx
January budget
Nothing left!

We need more info before we can help you. What is the exact date you are going and from which airport?

I went to Paris for my 30th and stayed at one of the many Etap hotels in France. If money is really tight, go for the Hotel Formule hotels.

General advice I can give you is, fly with a budget airline such as easyJet to keep the costs down. RyanAir also go "Paris" but Paris is an hour bus ride away.

    Hello

I am french and I confirm that the Two companies Easyjet and Ryanair and the cheapest. But the problem with ryanair is that the airport is in "Beauvais" and not in Paris. prefer easyjet. and check the prices to go to paris in train
Concerning the hotel, the cheapest hostels in France are : hôtel formule 1, Hôtel première classe, Hôtel B&B...
You can have low prices as well in "Auberges de jeunesse"
Have a good week end in paris, it is a lovely place ;)

Don't take any wine with you - it's pretty reasonable in Paris - especially if you order carafs and don't eat/drink in the most touristy of locations - try finding the out of the way cafes. I can also highly recommend the Mije for accommodation http://www.mije.com/index_individuels_uk.asp

Eurocheapo is a brilliant website for finding good, cheap hotels. I booked one through it last time I was in Paris and whilst it wasn't luxurious it was clean, comfy and central in the Marais. I was able to walk to most places.

Sometimes it's cheaper to have breakfast out, I was charged 7 euros for a croissant and a hot chocolate in the hotel, but could have got that much cheaper myself from a bakery.

Most of the tourist attractions I've been to have charged entrance fees, my favourites have been the Pompidou Centre and Saint Chapelle. Paris is a great place for just wandering around though, which costs nothing!

If you are travelling from the London area, Eurostar will be both quicker and cheaper than flying. Return tickets are available for a fare of 45 euros each way: but only if you tell the computer that your country is Belgium!

Rather than bringing wine with you, visit a local shop or supermarket there. Just don't forget your corkscrew!
