After Mortgage offer....what??

Hi,

Another FTB question.

I am in the process of buying my first house and the seller doesn't want to move till the end of November for personal reasons. I just think its a very long wait.

Please could you let me know what the different stages are after mortgage offer is received?

Thanks

  • Will the mortgage offer still be valid in November? I thought they only lasted 6 months?

So the seller doesn't want to complete until June? I don't think that's too long to wait at all, do you know what their reasons are?

I understand his worry about not wanting to move during exam but if I get my offer by mid April then its just going to be the waiting game
  • June really isn't that long at all...if in fact it is June and nothing goes wrong along the way.

We've been waiting 4 months so far and are only at the point of exchange.

You can use this time to buy/arrange stuff for your new house.

    June isn't that far. :)

    Congrats on the new house.

I agree, three months isn't all that long. You might find that it may well take around that length of time anyway if there are any small hiccups during the conveyancing.

Just proceed as normal as get as much done as you can ready to exchange :)

The English system is that the seller can back out at any time up to Exchange of Contracts, this often being a couple of weeks before move-in.
IF exchange for contracts were done asap, you'd be OK with June.
