Defaulted on the same day as settlement?!!

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help?
In a nutshell I have been going through my credit files with the 3 main agencies with a fine tooth comb. I knew there would be some poor credit history going back 5 years. When I have looked in to 3 old accounts settled in 2010 I have noticed RBS, NatWest & Aktiv/PRA have all defaulted me on the day of payment? Surely this isn't correct/fair?! I knew there would be late payments registered but I have no recollection of these defaults and I would remember!
I have raised a dispute with them all and RBS have contacted me initially, they are unable to find the history so have escalated for me.
I was just wondering if anyone else had come across this?
Any advice would be much appreciated, I'm hoping to move this year and I don't really want to have to wait until they drop off my file next year.
Many thanks

Depends whether the account history justifies a default before that point. Or whether they just had to default in a F&F then.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

What does it say for the account history prior to the default?
Were you paying the accounts prior to the settlement?:beer:0 -
Hi, thanks both for responding. I had arrangements in place and was keeping up with the payments which is why I am confused?!0

In that case I think that's unfair. That would also go against the ICO default reporting guidelines from that time.
You need to complain to each company, in writing, stating that you believe the defaults to be unfair. If they refuse, take to FOS, but this can take months.
These are settled in full on the date the default was issued?
Likely result is that defaults will be replaced with arrangement, which still isn't great. Unless you can argue the account should have been defaulted any earlier so it would have dropped off by now?:beer:0 -
On a regulated agreement, such as a credit card, the default date is when the bank issues you the 'default notice'. That is an end to it. The date isn't flexible. Current accounts are a little different but the bank will usually issue a letter demanding repayment of the full debt - that is usually the default date.0

Yes, but the default notice has to be issued in a fair manner, as per ICO guidelines.:beer:0
