Joined PO ISA last week. No problems when they transferred my money. However others need to be aware. Online transfer is card payment not the usual account/sortcode method. Secondly and this has irk'd me: I have so far given them details of two accounts to use so that I can withdraw my money, they allow only one. They can't verify they are mine using their usual methods so am asking me to find professionals e.g. accountant, Justice of the peace, Commissioner of oaths etc. get them to countersign a copy of one of my statements plus add their personal details address phonenumber etc. Then I have to post this to the bank. This is going to cost me as I don't walk in such circles.

Wish I had seen your post earlier!
Please could you let me know if you have you managed to resolve this - and if so, how?
Thanks0 -
Same thing's happened to me. Applied for a Post Office Online ISA last night and paid in this years's allowance by debit card. This morning I received a secure message from them to say they haven't been able to digitally verify the bank account details I gave them for my nominated account (only my NatWest current account that I've had for over 40 years!) and they now need a certified copy of a bank statement or a letter from the bank.
I've now had to spend additional time and money today to get to a NatWest branch only to be told it's NatWest's policy that they don't certify statements! They've done a letter confirming my account details and attached my latest statement so I've been to a large post office that has a financial section although the savings 'expert' wasn't available and even they could only advise what I had "should" be ok!
If I'd known it was going to this much hassle I would have opened an account elsewhere!
They do say this doesn't affect the opening of the account or the date I earn interest from so I'll wait and see!0 -

This has also happened to me. After saving with Halifax for years I decided to give the Post Office a try for the 0.5% higher interest rate. Successful application on Monday evening, within hours a secure message to say they can't verify my bank account. Funny that because my current account is also with Halifax and they managed to transfer my ISA from them yesterday and it is now closed. I can verify the account at a post office using the staff, but considering I have only have £3k in the ISA and the difference in interest is probably no more than £15 for the next year, it isn't worth the hassle.0 -
Same problem for me too. Trying to close two accounts with PO after failed security. I want to leave PO but cant as I need a account number and sort code for online transfer back to my old bank they can only provide a number as said that is ample. I cant touch either accounts my money seems in limbo. I wish I never heard of this blasted ISA from them I will never touch PO again.0

If you, or someone else, did deposit money into your account, you will have a sort code and account number and you will be able to withdraw your money. You may have to provide proof of ID before you can withdraw.
If you never deposited any money into an account, you can just ignore the account. No need to close it, just ignore it.0 -
Alas I only have one number and they call it ISA number I am unable to proceed to either deposit or withdraw any money.
