Note sure about the arrow thing, but It's quite an old TRV though, just been re-used, It could have been case of he couldn't be a***d to change it.

Just seems more logical to me to stop any more hot water coming in, than stopping it flowing out.

OH has been speaking to consumer direct, and has been advised to not pay the final bill. All in all, he's re-positioned the boiler, hung and connected 4 radiators (rads supplied by us) and installed pipework in the kitchen, and the sum total of his bills is just over £2k. is this over the odds, or is it quite a reasonable cost?

Good morning: You were charged £2000.00 and your 'installer' reused TRVs and you bought the rads??? Did you have other quotes before you had the work done? IMHO the price you paid is well over the odds even if you happen to live in Central London.

As yet we still have an outstanding bill with him of £650ish, which he's not getting a penny of, so we're looking around £1400 to him and then a couple of hundred to Worcester to sort out the mess he left behind.

We had one other guy quote just over a grand, but said it would have to be cash as he wasn't allowed to move the boiler, and another guy who just wanted to sell us a new boiler. The moron it said he'd charge us at an hourly rate which seemed fairly reasonable (this equated to £150 a day). And we could check the price of the parts as he had them all from the plumb centre. Looking now, I think he's probably bought stuff from elsewhere and then charged us the premium price.

I thought it was just me who thought it was expensive, I even asked him for a breakdown of parts for one of the bills which he duly supplied but everything looked to be in order when comparing it aginst the plumb centre catalogue.

Good evening: How many days did he work at your place? £150/day for a CORGI is cheap. The price list catalogue you are referring to is probably the list price i.e substantially more than the trades would pay...Plumb Center's online prices also bear no comparison to actual cost to the installer. Many CORGIs will add a small percentage to the cost eg. 10% to cover time spent sourcing and picking up the parts but your installer could have charged you the full whack. As I have said previously you need to report this clown to CORGI.

In all he did about 7 days, some of which were a couple of hours here and there.

Breakdown of costs was around £800 for the first/second fix pipework throughout the kitchen and to a couple of rads, £550 to resposition the boiler (+ pipework) over two days, and then the final bill is for around £680 to sort out the boiler and hang a couple of rads. (I can't add up, it's just shy of £2k)

Will do, and thanks again for all of your useful info

Good morning: Has there been a resolution to your situation? What action has CORGI taken?
