Lattice Group

Hi

Forum newbie here so apologies if this is the wrong place to post.
I've recently found out that I have some shares that have been held in trust for the last 14 years. Some of them are for the Lattice Group. I've done a bit of a search online and it looks like the Lattice Group merged with National Grid plc.
I was wondering how I would go about finding out the value of these shares. Do shares get transferred to the new company when a merger happens? Or should there be some sort of payout?
I know literally nothing about shares as this is the first time I have ever looked into them.

Any general suggestions on finding out value of shares? What to do next? Any links of places to look up more information?

Much appreciated.

Tilly

Try Capita in the first instance?

In whose name are the shares held?
  • Thanks for that link, I'll give them a call later.
I do have separate shares in Capita and also British Gas. They were left to me in a will when my grandfather passed away apparently they should have been passed on to me when I turned 18 but the will was never formally read. I'm assuming now I'm in my 20's they'll be in my name, I'm still waiting for all the paperwork to come through.
I don't know anything about how this kind of thing works.

Can I claim back dated payments on dividends for years they've just been sitting waiting to be allocated?

There is no such thing as a formal will reading in real life, or in UK law. It only exists in novels and soap operas, for dramatic effect.

If the shares were left to you in a will then they should have been transferred into your name by the executor named in the will. It is the executor's job to do this, so the first things to do are to try to get to see the will, and speak to the executor about any shares that were left to you in the will.

Who was the executor of the will?

If the shares were left to you as a minor, they should have been held in bare trust for you, either by the executor or by your parents.

The dividends on the shares would have belonged to you and should have been credited to an account in your name, possibly also held in bare trust.

Thanks, this is just what I was told when I asked about the will in passing a while back. They were waiting for something from the solicitor before they could read the will and divide out the inheritance.

All paperwork has been sat with my aunt (the executor) since my granddad passed away. It's only recently they have come to light so I'm not sure if there is or has been an account in my name set up. Thanks for your help, I'll check with my aunt to see if she has any information about a trust account.
