Vodafone are wrecking my credit rating!

This will be quite wordy, but I need to tell you everything that has happened so you understand:

At the start of the year I took out a contract with Vodafone with Thorntons employee friends and family discount. This should of made my bill £38.80. 2 weeks later £50 was taken out my account. I spoke to someone and said I wasn't happy so I returned my phone within 14 days all was fine the upfront cost refunded instantly onto the card I had used. But when I handed the phone back my app for vodafone said my bill was £2002, and I asked the guy in store if that was true, and he said no and not to worry about it!!!

I was told the £50 would also be refunded. This didn’t happen and I spoke to someone online – as it was very hard to get through to someone on the phone - and they said 7th of Feb I would definitely get my £50 back. Again, this didn’t happen.

Then the next day I got an email and a letter for a bill of £2259 and then was told in store and online this was an error and not my fault! Then I got another letter and I was told it was an error and would be cleared and I would get a refund of my £50, AGAIN this didn’t happen. Then I spoke to someone online and she said 5-7 working days max, the amount would be cleared as the request to clear it was accepted by the refunds team, and my £50 would be refunded by the 7 days MAX. I also asked if it would affect my credit rating and I was told no way at all!

Then again as you can probably guess, no £50, it's not the money that is annoying me its the principle involved. So I phoned and the lady said that the bill was actually cleared two weeks prior, and I would get my £50 plus compensation definitely, and again I didn't.

It's now 2ish weeks later and I got a letter from a debt company saying I now owe them £2359, and there is a default something or other that has been placed on my credit file.

So to cut a long story short, I am £50 down, very stressed and it has affected my credit rating and I was wanting to apply for a mortgage!

Has anyone been in the situation before or can help me out at all :-( ?

I know how you feel Interesting Post

Just Finished a Contract myself with VF and i am under the impression they make up fees or charges as i have had 3 different amounts yet one letter off them saying i owe nothing saying my account is finished (Followed by letters stating 3 amounts of £120 quid then 80 quid then 43 Pounds so pretty confused on what exactly i owe them)

I finished my contract after 3 whole years of awful service.

Now recently they are threating me with legal DCA letter rubbish for 40 Pounds now but have had for last bill 3 different amounts(Which by the time they get all that i will have paid off by standing internet banking order as i pay by my bank 10.00 pounds a week) i suggest getting a weekly if you can and work out what you can afford and go through it with them by your bank account. like myself 10.00 a week that way they have to accept payments
as for your credit file dont worry they sooner or later have to state paid or finished

anyway sorry i know how you feel
Disabled But Bloody trying to change my life
    Screw you Goverment.

My Mum has just been through a load of debt related grief with Vodafone too - they are utterly incompetent. We had Fredrikson International writing demanding payment for a phone that had been returned as Vodafone were unable to connect it to their network (I kid you not!)

We wrote to the CEO of Vodafone in Newbury and that got some movement although they still let us down by saying everything was resolved but did not dis-instruct the debt collector. They seemed to go out of their way to get things wrong. We continually said 'in writing only' and they continually phoned to discuss the complaint. What you will already know is that what Vodafone says to you on the phone is worthless as when they put the phone down it will be as if you never spoke.

If you search online you will find a multitude of complaints from people so frustrated with Vodafone's inability to provide basic services, such as mobile phones...

Try posting on the mobile phone forum on here. It has a lot of Vodafone complaints, but also has a Vodafone rep who seems to resolve some issues for people.

Vodafone are useless. That being said, your first bill will always be slightly off. Same situation happened for me, when I upgraded in Feb and took the VEA discount through an NHS family member. Why didn't you stick it out?
