Loads of very cheap bike bits in Lidl at the moment. Just got myself a workstand for £25!

It's only numbers.

I went in and had a look as someone else had recommended it and got myself a couple of pairs of cheap gloves (my decent ones never last), sunglasses, leggings and little toolbox.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have a peruse next time I'm in there.
Packs of four free range chicken legs & thighs are also very cheap at the moment (Just over a quid, when a pack of two same branded chicken breasts are about £4). This is relevant to cycling; protein is important!
They're also selling boxes containing a huge leg of Serrano ham for £40.
No one can accuse Lidl of being boring!0 -
There must be at least 20 within that radius of me!
And they are all exactly the same. I've visited Lidls in Thirsk, York, Worcester, Dartmouth, Zagan (Poland), and Zielona Gora (also Poland); and they all have the exact same layout, product range, prices, and (very naughty comment coming...) customer demographic.0 -

I used to work at Lidl for a time, after I'd been made redundant from my "proper" job ( anything was better than being on the dole ! ) The store layout is deliberate - every store is supposed to be the same, makes for more efficient stocking ( pallets arrive from the warehouse already grouped into the right areas ), and staff can help out at other local stores if needed ( particularly during stock-takes ) and immediately know where everything is.
Interesting point about the customer demographic. At the store I worked at, we had 2 regular customers that stood out - one drove a brand new Range Rover, another drove a Bentley. I suppose they'd worked hard for their money and saw no point in wasting it needlesslyBut I know where you're coming from, we certainly had our fair share of "less desirable" customers, and frequently had to refuse to serve alcohol to those who were clearly already "a bit merry".

Apparently not, as it was a racist joke! Although not a serious one; I went out with one for a few years and now live with a married couple. The Polish sense of humour is possibly the most politically incorrect in the world, and often self-defamatory.0 -
I looked at the bike stuff when I went in last. The helmets were extremely cheap.... but then I asked myself.... Would I trust a helmet that looked cheaply made and cheap to buy with my head?
I don't think I would.
There was a Bentley parked outside in the customers car park I noticed. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

While I agree about being concerned about the cheapness of the helmets, surprisingly there's pretty much only one helmet safety certification and it's a very basic one:

I've bought a bit of cycling stuff from Lidl in the past, all good except the track pump, barely lasted a year.0
