Flat address is different on electoral roll to bank account

I wonder if anyone can offer me some advice. When i moved into my rented flat (middle flat of three in a house), I was advised by the estate agent / landlord that my address was 'Raised Ground Floor Flat, 29 xxxx Road'. I put that on every bank account and credit account I opened (phone bill, etc). It never comes up on any postcode search engine (to fill my address in automatically) - I have to type it in. But it's literally on everything.

It's only after a year of living here, when I rung the council to check i was on the electoral roll, that they told me they had the address as 'Flat 2, 29 xxxx Road'. We're about to apply for a mortgage (we've got our decision in principle) - will this difference in wording of address effect us?! In terms of checking our credit histories and giving our past addresses? Or should i be changing all my addresses to match the electoral roll immediately? I don't really understand how it works!

Thank you in advance for any advice given, we're a bit worried.

If there is a flat below you and a flat above you then you are flat 2. I would change everything to flat 2 and match it to what the council have you down as.

    Good Luck.
  • Hi,
definitely match what the council has, double check with the assessors office of the exact address.
I had this issue too, house has a name but everywhere else it's a number - sadly this affected my credit rating!
If you want to change what the council has recorded, it can take up to 6 months.
    Good luck,
  • Thank you so much for your replies! If I change my addresd to flat 2 in line with the council - on my bank accounts etc- will that look like I've moved again? And so I won't have been in my property for very long on paper, and then it looks like I didn't live anywhere that exists for the year before that?! I'm so vo nfused and I'm not sure who I can ring for advice - would experian or the credit companies help? Or our mortgage provider (whoever that might be?) thanks in advance again

I would really like to look into this for you and I understand this can be worrying for you.

So that I would be able to help if it's an issue with your Experian Credit Report, could email me your details (name/dob/address) and if you could also include within your email the format of your current address your local council has you registered under and the date you've registered I would be able to take a look into this further for you.

    Kind Regards
