Candle making

I would suggest buying a kit first then working on more complicated candles when you have taught yourself how.0

I've been making new candles from the remnants of old ones. I bought some wicks online. I melt the remaining wax from a few 'finished' candles using a Bain-Marie and pour it into a new glass with the wick in the middle.
The problem I have is that as the wax in the new candle sets it sinks around the wick so that it is a lot higher at the sides of the jar than in the middle round the wick. Any suggestions?MS Stalwart. Used site for >10 years :jMake Do, Mend and Minimise member - focussing on upcycling/repurposing and sewing0 -
As the instructions in a kit will tell you this is normal, the way round iit is to add more wax.0

I've tried making candles myself but it didn't turn out well. I wonder what went wrong. Oh well. I'm still willing to try to make candles but I'll probably start with simple ones before the complicated ones.0

A couple of years ago, there was a link, on here, to a candle supply company that sold assorted packs of scented wax remnants, by weight.
I've not been able to find the link or the company via internet search.
Does anyone have any ideas ?0
