Mothersday Flowers - is this legal?

Options
Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any advice.

I ordered 2 sets of mothers day flowers from Prestige flowers. the company looks to have excellent reviews so I thought i was safe.

I specifically wanted flowers that were courier delivered on Mothering Sunday and this website offered that exact service on selected bouquets.

So I ordered my 2 sets of flowers and clicked the Mothering Sunday delivery button on one, the other I had to specifically select 15th March as the delivery date.

I was therefore really upset to hear that both sets of flowers were in fact delivered via Royal Mail on the Saturday. Thankfully both parties were at home, but had they not been, the flowers would have not been delivered.

I contacted prestige flowers to complain and this is the reply I received:

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your email,

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused yourself, we sent the bouquet out earlier than usual as deliveries to some areas can take an extra working day in transit, as mentioned in our terms.
Therefore we sent the flowers earlier to ensure the gift was received before or on your desired delivery date, rather than risk missing the day.

We do cover this in our terms and conditions.

* Please note that Mother's deliveries may dispatched early to avoid the peak congestions. Deliveries may be made from 13th March 2015 and 16th March 2015 to ensure that recipients are not let down.

Once again we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused yourself,

Thank you for your time
Many Regards

I replied to say that they had specifically offered Mothering Sunday delivery and tats is what I had paid for. not only that but Royal Mail do not offer a Sunday delivery option, so they actually had no intention of sending these on mothering Sunday.

I'm really annoyed as I could have saved a awful lot of money had i purchased the flowers through any number of people who will put them in the post via royal mail, instead I specifically wanted these flowers to turn up on the actual day they were intended for.

They say they mention exact delivery can not be guaranteed in their small print, but their small print was pages and pages long and I assumed since it was plastered all over their website "hand delivery on Mothering Sunday" that is what I was getting.

Many thanks

Claire Holgate
