    Well done!

Following the "take that banks!" theme, we got £25 in Amazon vouchers from an HSBC credit card which have promptly been spent on something we wanted. We have Amex cards that pay cashback which is better, but we use the HSBC card in places where Amex isn't accepted. :) All are always paid off in full each month so we've never paid any interest or fees for the cards.

Also phoned Sky yesterday and got £13/month off our bill for the next three months, which was better than nothing. They upset me with their latest price hike letter.

Good skills. You've also reminded me that we need to open 2 first direct credit cards are they are giving a nice bonus of £25 for each card after making 1 purchase. Needless to say, pay the balance then stick it in the drawer for a few months before cancelling!

    That's my job for tonight!

A couple of years ago Virgin did a free half-case of wine if you applied for their credit card. No obligation to use it and no fees. We both did it, got 12 free bottles of wine, and cancelled them a short time later. :D
  • Mortgage free in 2025-30.. We'll be aiming for around this time. Had our mortgage since 2012 so it would take a real effort to pay it within 15 years.. But a challenge I'm happy to accept!

Well done everyone getting the most out of their banks. I need to switch the ISA as it's on 1% at the moment.

Hi Snowbrow, we've got similar dates, my mortgage is due to end 2044, only took it out in December.

Bubbly, well done on clearing down debt.

I won't be able to offset much to the mortgage this month, £100 max if I'm good for the rest of the month.

Good news is it's a 4 week month so only 2 weeks and 5 days to pay day!

Welcome newbies! Cyril_the_squirrel and snowbrow - let me know if you want to go on the club members list in the first post and I'll add you (post the info for it but don't worry about formatting). :)

amycool - I also need to go ISA shopping. Had yet another letter reducing the rate on our cash ISAs and I haven't moved them for a few years now. They're on a paltry rate. :(

MSE wins in the last week:
    • Phoned Sky and got £13/month off our bill for the next three months.
    • Wanted to subscribe to the Ordnance Survey online getamap service (£18/year). Then saw I can get a year's subscription for £8 in Tesco Clubcard vouchers. Held off signing up until the next Clubcard statement in May, when I'll get enough in vouchers to pay for it. :)
