MET Parking Charge - Inconsitent charges

Hi all, any help would be much appreciated!
I have recently received a Parking Charge Notice from MET because I overstayed the permitted parking duration at a McDonalds car park. As has been previously mentioned, the £50 fine (becomes £100 if I don't pay by the end of today) is totally disproprotionate to the supposed 'loss of income' McDonalds may have suffered, totally ignoring the fact that we spent more money in there because we stayed longer!
However, this is not my main gripe. I was with a collegue who also parked her car in the same car park and arrived before me, and left after me, yet she has not received a ticket! How are MET able to enforce such inconsistent charges? How can I have been considered to have 'entered a contract' but she has not? Of course I don't want to get my friend into trouble, but I find it very frustrating that MET can't even be consistent if they wish to hand out such ridiculous fines.
I have appealed to MET and they have rejected it, sending me a POPLA code which came in the post yesterday. In the rejection letter they do not even address the fact that my main point in the appeal was that their fines are inconsistent. I have up until midnight tonight for the charge to become £100 and I can't decide what to do. I've already emailed McDonalds customer service but no response yet.
Does anybody have any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Yes it is, it doesn't matter about other cars.
Thoughts? Read the NEWBIES sticky thread post #3 'How to win at POPLA'. EASY - ''no GPEOL'' (read the stickies)!
McD's won't help, they never do unless you complain LOCALLY to the Manager (they cancel these all the time at some sites). That's also mentioned clearly in a another sticky thread 'Successful Complaints about PPCs' also near the top of the forum in Crabman's 'parking board stickies'.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD0 -
Yes - read the Newbie thread and put in a POPLA appeal.
And don't pay MET a penny.
Forget about customer services and go straight to the CEO - jill.mcdonald@uk.mcd.com

If it is any consolation when I challenged a MET ticket at POPLA, they didn't submit any evidence, so I won by default !Thank you for reading this message.0

Make sure you run your POPLA appeal past the good folk here, whatever you do don't run the "inconsistent ticketing" as your appeal point.
GPEOL is your friend. Tis all in the stickies.0
