TopShop Staff Account, Advice?

Hi guys,

This may seem like an odd question, but any advice is appreciated.

I've just recently got a trainee management position at Topshop, and unlike any other company I've heard of, in order to receive your Staff discount you are required to take out a Staff Account card run by GE Capital.

You have to fill in the credit agreement etc, however I've applied for a Topman card in the past and been declined, I do have a fairly poor credit history.

I was just wondering as this card is sort of related to employment, if anyone works for Arcadia, does anybody know if I'm likely to be eligible for one?

Thanks alot guys, sorry for strange long winded post.

    Hi

I worked for Evans for many years and yes both cards are run by G.E, however my understanding with the staff credit agreement was that credit checks were rather looser than if you were a customer because they would simply claim back any debt from your wages...it has been 4 years since i worked for them and it MAY have changed.

You can ask them (or at least you once could ask them) for a lower your credit limit so you simply cant get into trouble, managers limits are higher than normal staff and if i can give you one MAJOR word of advice...pay it off every single month...when all is said and done, it is still a storecard with a VERY high interest rate that will simply cancel out your staff discount benefit.

p.s...Evans discount would be appreciated for the advice :p lol

Wow, what a great way to rip off your own staff. Give them a discount, but make it conditional on spending using a store card with interest of 19.9% APR. Hope they don't pay it off in full each month and then make money out of them.

    Hey Daisy,

Thanks so much for that, somebody else that is also on the same trainee scheme as me, also said they're looser on credit searches.

I've got no CCJ's or Bankruptcy or anythin that serious, so hopefully I'll get accepted.

I probably wont even use it that much, the uniform allowance is more than enough to keep me clothed lol...

Thanks for all your advice guys... :)
