Consent to Let Santander

Hi

My husband and I are taking a year out to travel, in our 50's, and our mortgage is with Santander. Does anyone know the process and how easy it is to get a CTL from them. The rent will more than cover our current mortgage as it will be a corporate let.

You should speak to your lender. 10 seconds with a google search brought this up:

I did this (5 years ago though), I phoned them, they said I needed to send them a written request for consent and gave me the address, then I got a letter back giving consent. I had to pay for it though, £250-£300ish at the time.

I had a Santander (ex-Alliance and Leicester) mortage and successfully got CTL from 2007 until 2014, when I decided to sell. Cost me £95 per year with no change to the rate, and they did it all over the phone (but sent me confirmation in writing).

I'm would expect other Santander mortgages to have different terms, though.

I would check very carefully regarding the corporate let as I believe it can be much more difficult to get the property back when you want it.

Also make plans so that you have somewhere to live for 3-6 months after you return if the tenant refuses to move out, even for a standard let.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
