I want double glazing, but not the sales pitch

The only answer really is to not be a punter.
Somewhere within a 5mile radius of your home is a small outfit knocking out uPVC products for a fraction of the price of the glossy brochure brigade.
It isn't rocket science. The uPVC industry itself is littered with illiterate, semi-dead monkees who get along just fine.
Wise words and I wholly endorse this. I would add the proviso that these "illerate semi- dead monkees" are also employed in the trade side of the window industry. Hence go forward with caution. Most local window companies cannot meet the technical requirements required by the new house building industry. Consequently they rely on those who want the cheapest possible windows regardless of quality, or they rely on the ignorant.
There is a small outfit within metres of my home. The business makes windows in a double garage forming part of a home. The owner has traded for decades. Would I use him...no chance, but he is cheap and customers flock to him.
Which brings me onto profiles - all the big manufacturers make regular deliveries to him. His trade customers then show naive customers Eurocell brochures, and similar. These naive customers think the windows are made by these companies in high technology CAD controlled factories. Eurocell and all the other companies are happy for this illusion to persist. They do not care that naive customers are being stitched up.0
