Life Assurance problem

Hello, my partner and I are paying nearly £50 each for Life Assurance and Critical Illness cover, which I now realise is a ridiculous amount of money, especially as I think that Critical Illness cover is not really necessary for us. My partner could get a cheaper quote from Cavendish I am sure, but I have some health problems. My question is- is it worth me trying to get a cheaper deal or will I run into a lot of problems with insurers because of the health issues? I have crohn's disease, although I am actually well and have been for years and years.
