Problems with M&S Energy vouchers

I received my £20 of vouchers from M&S energy last week. Comprising of 1 x £5 for clothing and 3 x £5 for food. I went to Watford m&S to spend them. The cashier said she hadn't seen them before. These vouchers had a series of numbers written on them with no bar code. Two other layers of management claimed they weren't useable either and that I needed vouchers with bar codes. WRONG...I phoned M&S Energy who weren't at all helpful and said I needed to take it up with the store. Oh yes so I should waste my time doing this.I then went to M&S London Colney to try and spend the vouchers. Slightly more success in that they had seen them. However they claim I couldn't use more than voucher for one transaction when the T&Cs categorically state this is possible. I was also told one of the vouchers had been used when it hadn't! I had to pay for the food in three chunks in order to use the valid vouchers. Meanwhile I am having great discussions with M&S complaints and M&S Energy complaints.

Same problem for us just now. Till operator didn't know how to enter the voucher number. Superviser did, but the till will only accept one voucher, despite terms saying they can be combined. We had to split the shop in to 3 transactions.
They tried to fob us off by saying the combination meant one food voucher and one clothing voucher, but I disagreed as the terms did not say that.
Staff apologetic and were not that surprised as the various discount vouchers cause them problems every day.0 -
I complained online. I have had a response which categorically states the till operators have received information on how to deal with these vouchers so more than one can be accepted.
Looks like the message hasn't got through, but I'm £20 better off for the inconvenience. Gift voucher on its way.
