1st Central or AA car insurance?

I've been with 1st Central this past year but can't say I'm that happy with them for various reasons, including the feedback I've read on this forum about them. I'm also concerned that they are in Gibraltar but I'm unsure if that is really an issue or not. At the time, they were the only reasonable quote I could get, but now I've got a slightly better quote from A.A., which it says is underwritten by Zurich. All the other quotes are over £100 more expensive.
I'd appreciate any advice/opinions about which company is more reputable or which one I should choose.
Also, on my renewal notice under my details, it says 8 years NCD. I'm unsure if this is what I have currently or what I will have once the policy ends in a couple of weeks. Does it mean when I'm getting new quotes I should say I have 9 years?

Zurich are a far far better than 1st Central.
The renewal notice confirms your current no claims bonus as at the renewal and will serve as proof of your no claims bonus so you have 8 years0 -
I've just had a closer look at the renewal forms they sent me. Two months ago I rang up to change the registered keeper from my mum to myself. Paid £29 to do so. Now I see they still have my mum as the keeper . It's the last straw!
I went with 1st Central because almost no one else would insure me when I was neither the owner/keeper. I rang them up to verify and double check that they were definitely ok about this. I've still got details of the name of the person I spoke to, date, time, even which call centre branch they were at.
When I spoke to them again recently, the guy told me that they would never have agreed to this and they were going to cancel my policy . I argued with him and eventually they said they would not cancel it but he would still not admit that they had agreed to this initially.
You're right dacouch, I think I'll pay the extra and go with Zurich (or any other insurer). 1st Central are so cheap that it's always tempting but it's just not worth the risk. I've cancelled their auto renewal online. I'm now paranoid that they'll mess that up so I've took a screenshot of the confirmation page.0
