Cancelling car warranty - MOT and Service contract
Options
I will appreciate if someone can give me some advice on this matter as it would really save me a lot of money.
Last year I bought a car and decided to take a 2 year warranty, which includes Service and MOT as well.
I, then realized that I should have not done so. It's been almost a year and I haven't used the warranty but I understand that it works like insurance, in a sense that it's a cover so regardless of that I have to pay the amount for the year.
However, my intention is to cancel all the MOT and services that are included in it(I haven't serviced or used the MOT from this contract at all) and get a refund.
I have asked this to my dealer but they said that warranty cannot be cancelled and because MOT and service is part of the MOT, I can't cancel them either.
Is it there anything I can do about this?
Thank you

If you can get anything back it would only be pro-rata as you've been covered for almost a year.
However as you've not had any of the services yet or MOTs, it make sense to use it and get full value.
I've not heard of grouping it all together before, which company is running the scheme?0 -
Read the T&C's but I would not think you have any right to a refund, are you selling the car? If so is it transferable to the new keeper?
If not you may just have to take the hit and learn a lesson, I know that sounds harsh but a year after buying a product you have changed your mind why should a business bail you out?0 -
Oddball and loskie you are both right.
I just decided to take this service and warranty contract in the hype of the situation but then found that it's not worth it as I could have found it cheaper.
The contract on warrant, mot and service is with the dealer i bought the car from, so no third party contract.
I don't think it's possible to transfer it, I have spoken to them and they said that no refund can be done, however they can transfer it to a new car if I decide to buy it from them.
I guess, like you said, I'll have to take the hit and learn the lesson the hard way should I decide to sell the car.0 -

Are you saying that you haven't had the car serviced at all? if you have missed a service interval you *may* find that you have invalidated the warranty anyway.0 -

Geodark, I bought the car last may so I still have time to service it, usually the car it self tells you when the service is due but other than that, the car was serviced before purchased and I still have time to service it.0 -
Cool, was just checking what you meant - I learnt the hard way with a missed service interval and warranty claim years ago!0
