Blue Badge Parking Ticket

I have recently received my blue badge and visited London over the weekend. I parked on a double yellow line and was issued a ticket since I believe blue badge holders cannot park on a double yellow line in certain areas of London
Previously I parked on a double yellow line near Natural History Museum with my disabled badge and was told by a Parking warden that I could park as long as there were no markings on the pavement to indicate it was a loading area.
How is one expected to know different rules within London which apply for disabled parking?
Any advice would be welcome since I would like to know if I have any grounds for appeal. I checked the various websites and Westminister council does state no parking for disabled people on double yellow lines. However another one by Citizens Advice says one could park on double yellow lines (although it did not mention London specifically)
Please help and would be much obliged

Blue badge parking in London is a different kettle of fish I'm afraid:

You could try Pepipoo as they have more knowledge of council ticket appeals though:
