I want to hire a van (From Enterprise)
The day fee is reasonable, but then they nicke-and-dime you for extra cover and reduced excess.

Has anyone had experience with getting reduced excess from a 3rd part such as: InsureMyVanHire(dot)com?

Other sellers are fine, cannot comment on the one you've mentioned explicitly. Just remember that you have to pay the excess up front and then claim it back from the other policy so it only works if you can afford the £1,000 or whatever the excess is

Also be careful of what happens if the repairs are below the excess. Some more budget policies historically didnt pay out in these cases, though its rare for hire companies to ever say costs were below the excess so less of an issue than with other classes of excess cover.

    Good to know, thanks :)
I don't drive as regularly as I would like.
Hence me considering the extra excess reduction.

Would you suggest getting it form Enterprise. Or not even bother? :)

    - EDIT: You were right, they require £1000 upfront. Forget that!

Insurance is all about risk appetite. Despite working in insurance I have a fairly healthy appetite for taking risks on and thankfully so far the gambles I've taken have paid off.

Other people prefer certainty and so buy every class of insurance going.

Hire companies are well known for inventing damage etc but again so far I've never had a problem with returning a vehicle even though technically I did have minor damage to two of them (door opened into a barrier causing a small chip on the edge & wing mirror scratched by a crazy woman who hit the stationary vehicle).
