We tried, approved online needed to take ID information into the bank to progress. They had no record of our application. Many phonecalls later still no progress.
We won't be switching, poor service. Had very similar trying to switch to Santander a few years ago - not sure why banks keep losing our information but they are pretty damned good at it.
Clowns! If they cannot handle a simple application why would I trust them with our hard earned?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
I switched to an already existing Halifax account and received £125 the day after the switch took place.
Switch was Monday, 9th March;
free cash credited to my Halifax account Tuesday, 10th Match.

Hi,
I switched to the Halifax last week. On the 7th working day the switch was completed and the £125 was added to my new account the following day. Some people have had it payed in a little later, 2 days, 3 days etc. I was really impressed at how smooth the switch went and at how quickly the incentive was paid in. Makes me wonder why the other banks state that their incentive can take upto 60 days for it to be added when Halifax can do it within a matter of hours.0 -
Hi, my £125 came through the next day after the switch. Very smooth. Does anyone know if the account needs to remain open for a certain time or can it be switched immediately for the next incentive?0

I am guessing you can switch whenever you want to. I am also interested in doing this but it does not state on the T&C's on these banks websites how long you you have to keep the account once the incentive has been paid therefore I guess you are free to move when you want.0 -
Another one with no complaints, cash back appeared the day after the switch and so far the customer service has been excellent.====0

Unless the T&C for a particular switch incentive specify that an account has to be kept for a minimum period after payment, then there is no such minimum period. What is not specified in T&Cs is as important as what is

Went online with Halifax to switch a current account to them. Had everything ready and started but got to pick a branch and pc issues with their site. Couldn't get any further so phoned the number listed by them to be met with the usual menus including asking for my account number! The fourth person I spoke to was in the switching team but as my wife wasn't with me couldn't switch at that point. "We're open till 10pm on the phone so please call back with your wife present". He gave me the direct switching number. Now 3 hours later and just phoned again - automated request for my bank account number - "Tell us what you want so you can be directed to the right team." Switching a current account I said to eventually be met with a queue of around 5 minutes. Halifax account - no thanks.0
