Experian trial - is there a credit search made?

Hello, I am looking to sign up to the free Experian trial but am worried that it will perform a credit search if I sign up to it?

Thanks

    No. .
  • Once you've signed up you can see all the searches that have been made and whether they affect your score or not. I can see a few searches from Experian but these all come up as not affecting my score.

So yes, they do search you but it doesn't affect your score at all.

PS. I only signed up for the £10 cashback via Quidco. I think it's dropped to £5 now but worth getting something out of it if you were looking to use the free trial anyway. Don't forget to read the T&Cs though.
Apologies for any typos, my phone can't handle the forums.

There are different types of search that an organisation can perform on your report. Lenders can normally only see "credit application" searches to help them decide your suitability for the product you're applying for. Requesting or signing up for your credit report will result in a search but not one that is visible to lenders because it is not a "credit application" search. Hence, this will not affect your creditworthiness.

Maggie.Moo - thanks, I was under the impression it would add a credit search on the file but it sounds more like an identity thing. Will look at the Quidco deal too.

Malmo - thanks that clears it up too, I will sign up to have a look
